Main island route reopens after gas main repairs

Roadworks were in place on Horsebridge Hill in the summer

A main route between Newport and Cowes on the Isle of Wight was shut while a gas main was repaired.
The A3020 Horsebridge Hill in Newport closed both ways overnight to allow SGN to work on the issue affecting gas pressure to a small number of homes and repair the road.
SGN said the work had been completed and the road had since reopened with gas supplies "continuing to operate safely and reliably".
The route had roadworks in place between May and July so a new junction could be built for a housing development at Acorn Farm.
