Man, 53, who died in single-car crash is named

A 53-year-old man who died in a crash in Renfrewshire has been named as Gary Sim.

Police were called to the scene on Beith Road, Johnstone, at about 02:00 on Saturday following reports of a crash involving one car.

Mr Sim, from the local area, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The road was closed to allow police to carry out investigations and reopened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Road Policing Constable Stewart Brown said: “Our thoughts are with Gary’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time and we continue to offer them support as our inquires progress.

“I’d like to thank the local community for their patience while the road was closed and also to members of the public who provided information.”
