Highways bosses have suspended parking bays on two roads in Derby city centre so flood defence works can be carried out.

Derby City Council said the restrictions in Phoenix Street and Stuart Street were set to remain until 1 December, 2026.

Stuart Street has been made two-way for all traffic as has Phoenix Street, between its junctions with Stuart Street and Derwent Street, the council said.

The authority said the work was part of the £35m Our City Our River (OCOR) scheme which includes work to demolish office blocks in the city centre along the River Derwent to turn it into green space.

Correction 12 September: Following updated information from the city council, this article has been amended to make it clear the roads are still open to traffic.
