A woman and a six-year-old boy have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Sheffield.

The 68-year-old woman and the child were struck by a grey Polestar as they crossed Lound Side, in Chapeltown, near to the junction with Sussex Road at about 18:10 GMT on Wednesday.

South Yorkshire Police said the woman has suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in the collision, while the boy's injuries were described as serious.

Anyone who witnesses the incident or who may have footage of what happened is asked to contact the force.
