Appeal to replace stolen stag sculpture Walt
- Published
A resident is hoping to replace a life-size ornamental metal stag which was stolen from a roundabout.
The 7ft (2.1m) high sculpture was installed at the junction of Carrwood Road and Valley View in Walton-le-Dale, near Preston, in August 2022, and went missing a year later.
Susan Conway said she wanted to raise enough funds to replace it and "bring a little joy back into our lovely neighbourhood".
The 34-year-old has set up a GoFundMe page to raise the £500 needed.
'Brought joy'
The Walton Park resident said she was "massively disappointed" when the stag, nicknamed Walt, went missing.
She said it was "loved very much" and "brought joy to those passing through".
"It brought great sadness in the community when it was stolen," the mother-of-three said.
The original sculpture took 150 hours to make and was funded by South Ribble Borough Council.
It is believed it was stolen during the night as the legs had been cut though with an angle grinder.
Ms Conway said residents were "open to discussions" about what exactly might replace the stag.
