Driver dies after car crash on country road

The crash happened on Thirsk Road, near Northallerton, in the early hours of Sunday

A man has died following a car crash on a rural North Yorkshire road in the early hours of the morning.
Police said the incident happened on the A168 near Thornton-le Beans, south of Northallerton, at about 01:40 BST on Sunday and involved a black Mazda.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, North Yorkshire Police said, with two passengers taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The road remained closed for several hours, the force added, with witnesses or those with dashcam footage asked to come forward.
