Derelict pub could make way for specialist housing
- Published
Plans to convert a former pub into specialist supported housing have been submitted.
An application has been made on behalf of Squirrel Wood Properties to redevelop The Wheatsheaf on Eastfield Road, Peterborough.
The pub underwent restoration work in 2019 before closing down later that year and has since been vacant and boarded up.
The application proposes demolition of the former pub in order to meet "increasing demand for such accommodation.”
Sixteen one-bedroom units, split between 12 apartments and four bungalows, are proposed, along with 11 parking spaces.
The accommodation will be self-contained to allow a degree of independence with proposals for six employees on the site, the statement said.
The application, external has yet to be considered by Peterborough City Council.
