A Bradford charity has revealed plans to turn one of the city's libraries into a "vibrant community-led space" after it took over the running of the site.

Beyond the Margin has been announced as the new manager of Holme Wood Library, on Broadstone Way.

The charity, which according to its website aims to support "disadvantaged and marginalised people" through education and creative learning, will host an opening event for residents on 26 September.

The venue reopened in 2023 under the management of the local Sutton Community Centre, having been shut since the start of the Covid pandemic.

The library was then initially open for only 12 hours a week, though its opening times are now set to be extended under its new managers.

Founder and CEO of Beyond the Margin, Lauren Batty, said: "We are so excited about this new opportunity to bring to life such a beautiful space for all Holme Wood residents to enjoy.

"Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where everyone can come together to learn, be creative, connect, and grow. Thank you to Bradford Council for their support and making this possible."

The charity is also seeking volunteers to help with various aspects of the library's operations, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

Anyone interested in getting involved is asked to get in touch.
