Man extradited from Thailand pleads not guilty

An 80-year-old man extradited to the UK from Thailand has appeared in court charged with historic offences, including false imprisonment and indecent assault.

Vincent Agar, who is originally from Teesside but has been living in Thailand, faces a total of eight charges.

Mr Agar appeared via video link for the 20-minute hearing at Teesside Crown Court, during which he pleaded not guilty to all charges.

He was remanded in custody ahead of his trial, which is due to begin on 2 March next year.

Mr Agar - who was residing in Maret in Koh Samui, part of the Surat Thani province, prior to his extradition - has pleaded not guilty to three counts of false imprisonment between 12 January 1998 and 13 September 1999.

He also pleaded not guilty to two counts of GBH with intent, one count of making threats to kill, one count of indecent assault on a woman over 16, and one count of supplying a class A controlled drug.
