Three police officers in hospital after crash in Edinburgh

Three police officers have been taken to hospital after a crash in Edinburgh city centre involving two police vehicles, a car and a van.

It is understood that the police were responding to an emergency, with blue lights on, during the incident on Broughton Street at about 06:00.

The three officers were taken to hospital for assessment, however their injuries are not thought to be serious.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said two fire engines were at the scene until about 06:40.

Police Scotland said several surrounding roads were closed on Friday morning, but all have since reopened.

The force said inquiries into the crash were ongoing.
