New figures show the government in Jersey has granted islanders £3.5m for greener heating systems since May 2023.
The low carbon heating incentive, external offers up to £9,000 for heat pump installations and £4,000 for electric flow boilers, and low‑income households up to £15,000 to switch heating systems.
Government figures show since the incentive scheme launched there have been 709 applications, of which 504 were for electric flow boilers, 134 for air source heat pumps and 71 for direct acting heating systems.
The government said the new installations had replaced 380 oil-fuelled systems, 328 gas-fuelled systems and one solid-fuel system which it said resulted in significantly lower carbon emissions.
The government figures show the switch to low‑carbon heating had saved an estimated 2,603 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent to date.
This number was based on typical household energy use before and after installation using energy performance certificate data.
Minister for the Environment, Deputy Steve Luce, said: "Low-carbon systems can be tailored to your property so you can enjoy warmth and comfort built around your needs."
He said fossil fuel heating was responsible for 14% of the island's residential emissions and encouraged islanders planning home upgrades or replacing heating systems to consider the incentive scheme.
