The M25 is due to shut again in two weeks, but it will be the last full closure as part of the Junction 10 project, National Highways says.

Junction 10, near Wisley, and junction 11, near Woking, were closed in both directions from Friday to Monday while a bridge was demolished as part of improvement works.

Drivers faced delays over the weekend due to the congestion before the road reopened, ahead of schedule, on Monday morning.

Jonathan Wade, project manager, told BBC Radio Surrey the next closure was a "little bit more tricky" but that it was a "milestone - no more closures".

It was the latest in a series of closures between the two junctions as part of a severely delayed £317m project to add extra lanes.

Work began in 2022 but was pushed back due to bad weather, National Highways previously said. It is now scheduled to end in spring 2026.

Mr Wade said they managed to "squeeze in" lots of other jobs this weekend, including removing signs from the gantry and landscaping.

The same stretch of road will be closed again from 21 to 24 March to allow workers to demolish a second bridge.

Mr Wade said: "The second one is a little bit more tricky because it's very close to one of the new bridges, but there were lessons learned over the weekend, so we're looking forward to doing that.

"We did see quite a lot of traffic so sincere apologies to those who were delayed."

He thanked residents of Addlestone, Sheerwater, West Byfleet , Byfleet and Painshill "who bore the brunt of a lot of the traffic", adding: "We are aware that these things aren't great and they do have an impact on people's lives."
