Attempted murder arrest after man in 80s stabbed

A man in his 80s has suffered serious injuries in a stabbing in Derby.

Police have confirmed they arrested a man in his 50s after being called to reports of a pensioner being assaulted in Whitecross Gardens, off Kedleston Road, at 14:40 BST on Saturday.

He had suffered stab wounds and was taken to hospital, where he remains.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police confirmed a man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.

The spokesperson added: "We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and it is understood to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public."
