A man who was arrested after a van rammed into a police car in Jonesborough, County Armagh, has been released from police custody.

A PSNI spokesman said the van was exiting a car park but then began reversing when approached by officers on patrol at about 01.55 BST on Saturday.

The van then drove forward, colliding with the police vehicle, before crashing into a nearby pillar. No officers were seriously injured in the incident.

The man, who is 59, was detained on suspicion of a number of offences but has since been released on bail to allow for further enquiries.
