An 85-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision in Launceston, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called at 11:35 BST on Wednesday following the collision between a black Volkswagen Golf and the pedestrian on Link Road near Western Road Roundabout.

The woman was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth with serious injuries and the road was closed for more than five hours for investigative work and an examination of the scene.

Road policing teams are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and have appealed for witnesses to get in touch with relevant information or dashcam footage.
