A programme of events intended to inform and inspire islanders with local politics has begun, as Jersey's sixth annual Democracy Week is underway.
Activities including film screenings, exhibitions, school visits and candidate workshops have been organised by the States Greffe, to encourage voter engagement ahead of the General Election in nine months' time.
Aspiring politicians can attend a breakfast event on 25 September, tour the States Chamber and hear from current members about life in public office.
Jenny O'Brien, head of digital and public engagement, said: "Democracy Week is a great opportunity for islanders to reflect on what matters to them and how they can get involved."
Highlights of the week include a screening of the film Suffragette and access to a new exhibition at the Jersey Museum showcasing the 1924 women's petition for equal rights.
The People Power exhibition in Royal Square showcases real-life examples of political activism in Jersey, while the Mark My Words final on 26 September sees Year 8 students deliver speeches on social issues in the States Chamber.
Free guided tours of the States Chamber and political walking tours of St Helier are also available, alongside pop-up stands across the island offering information about voting and standing for election, some staffed by bilingual teams.
Constituency drop-ins will give islanders a chance to meet their elected representatives.
It is as the States Assembly Podcast is also celebrating its second anniversary with 17 episodes now available.
