The M62 was closed in both directions outside Leeds earlier after a lorry overturned.

National Highways said the motorway was shut between junction 29 for Lofthouse and junction 30 for Oulton.

West Yorkshire Police said the HGV had crossed the central reservation and emergency services were at the scene.

The M62 westbound had three of four lanes closed, while the eastbound carriageway had two of four lanes closed while recovery work took place.

'Debris and spillages'

There were no immediate reports of any injuries.

Highways England said: "As a result of the collision, there's debris and spillages across both carriageways.

"Police are in attendance, along with National Highways traffic officers who are assisting with traffic management."

The agency said officers had released traffic stuck at either side of the incident, adding diversion routes had been put in place.

Some lanes would have to be closed overnight to assist in recovery, National Highways added.
