A man has pleaded not guilty to murdering a woman in Cardiff.

Alcwyn Thomas, 44, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday charged with the murder of Victoria Thomas, who was found dead at a house on the city's Caerphilly Road last month.

Following 45-year-old Ms Thomas’ death, her family described her as "much-loved", adding that they are "broken" by her loss and "will miss her forever".

Mr Thomas was remanded in custody and will stand trial next year.

Police officers were called to the Caerphilly Road property at about 00:30 BST on 20 August.

A full inquest into Ms Thomas' death was opened earlier this month, only to be adjourned until after "further criminal investigation" had taken place.
