Man jailed for attack on wife and threats to kill

A man has been jailed for more than two years for attacking his wife and making threats to kill.
Police said Gheorghe Badelita argued with the victim on 18 December at their home in Burmer Road, New England, Peterborough, before punching and slapping her.
The 53-year-old was arrested and released on bail, but was re-arrested on charges of criminal damage after returning to the house.
He was sentenced to 28 months at Huntingdon Law Courts.
Badelita had denied three counts of making threats to kill, common assault and criminal damage at the court in July.
He was found guilty and also handed a five-year restraining order, preventing him from contacting the victim.
PC Rebecca Risebrow, of Cambridgeshire Police, said: "Badelita terrified the victim in this case with his awful treatment of her.
"I’m pleased he has now faced justice for his actions.
"Tackling domestic abuse is one of our priorities. We’re committed to protecting victims of crime and doing all we can to prosecute those responsible."
