Two males who stole a Jaguar and took it on a joyride before crashing have been arrested after a police helicopter chased them down.

Wiltshire Police were called at 10:30 BST to reports a Jaguar had been stolen from Shrewton and was being driven by a 16-year-old.

The car was located on the A36 going through Westbury and, after it failed to stop, a helicopter from the National Police Air Service was deployed to assist.

Officers said they managed to successfully deflate the vehicle's tyres with a device before it crashed on the A350 and the two occupants were arrested.

Both males were from Devizes and had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, theft of a motor vehicle and burglary, officers said.

One was in custody in Melksham, assisting officers with their investigation, they said.

The second remained in hospital but was not seriously injured, they added.
