A road in Somerset will be closed on weekdays for two weeks while it is resurfaced.

Work on Honiton Road, in Taunton, is due to start later and finish on 21 November.

The road will be closed from 09:30 to 15:30 GMT on weekdays but will be open as usual on weekends.

Councillor Richard Wilkins, Somerset Council's lead member for transport, said the team will do their best to get the work completed as "quickly and efficiently" as possible.

"We are extremely grateful to residents for their support and understanding while this work is done," he added.

"Please do liaise with them if you are a resident and need to raise any issues around access."

There will be a signed diversion route via Blackdown Hill and Wellington during the closures and Hatch Green Coaches will operate a council-funded shuttle between Canons Grove and Trull Stores, which is normally part of the 97 bus route.

The council has said pedestrian access will be maintained throughout for residents, but warned there may be some times where vehicle access is restricted to some properties. Residents have been advised to liaise with the team on site.
