A man has suffered serious injuries after being punched in the head outside a pub, police say.

Officers were called to East Lane in Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire, close to the Hammer and Wedge, at about 01:25 GMT on Sunday.

The force said a man in his 60s was taken to hospital with serious injuries after what was believed to be an "isolated incident".

Det Sgt Jackie Price said: "A man has suffered serious injuries as a result of this incident and we are working hard to trace whoever is responsible."
