Firefighters have been tackling a large wildfire in the Parkwood Springs area of Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said eight crews were sent to the scene at Penrith Road, with residents urged to keep doors and windows closed due to smoke, which was visible from the Hillsborough and Shirecliffe areas of the city.

A spokesperson said: "Crews have worked tirelessly in extreme heat to bring this incident under control and are now in the process of dampening down.

"We anticipate to be on scene throughout the afternoon and into the evening."
