A fire broke out on a yacht carrying eight people three miles off the West Sussex coast earlier.

A Coastguard rescue team and the RNLI were sent to assist after the vessel's engine caught fire on Saturday morning, Shoreham Coastguard said.

Non-essential personnel on board were helped onto an RNLI lifeboat, while the vessel was escorted into Shoreham Harbour to meet the fire service.

Police were also called as a precaution at about 10:30 BST, but no injuries have been reported.
