A football fan has denied throwing a vape on to the pitch during a Leeds United game.

Season ticket holder Ryan Sharp, 28, is accused of throwing the object at Elland Road during the club's home game against Tottenham Hotspur on 4 October.

Mr Sharp pleaded not guilty to a single charge of throwing a missile on to a football playing area at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

His solicitor, Anthony Sugaré, told the court his client "emphatically" denied the charge.

The defendant, of Wyther Park Grove in Leeds, is due to stand trial on 25 March.

A further case management hearing will take place at the same court on 8 December.

Mr Sharp was granted conditional bail.
