Police are investigating several "dangerous items" being thrown from the balcony on a high-rise building on Merseyside.

The actions of the person throwing the objects from Strand House in Bootle was putting people at serious risk of harm, including construction workers currently undertaking demolition works on parts of the nearby Strand shopping centre, officers said.

One Vision Housing, which manages the block, have been notified of the situation.

Residents have been sent a "final warning" letter from Merseyside Police stating if an item thrown causes injury they could face action.

There is no confirmation of whether an individual household has been identified, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

"The police are now formally aware of this matter. Further incidents will result in enforcement action," the letter added.

"The housing provider One Vision has been notified, and further incidents may breach your tenancy agreement. This letter serves as a final warning.

Merseyside Police said: "We received a report that several items had been thrown from balconies at Strand House in Bootle.

"There have been no reported injuries. Local policing officers have been made aware and delivered letters to homes."

One Vision Housing has been approached for a comment.

The demolition which started earlier this year is part of a wider regeneration project for Bootle which aims to completely modernise the town centre.

The roof over the Palatine Mall Atrium has now been fully removed, as well as the old shop canopies along Stanley Road, separating the Palatine Block from the rest of the shopping centre.
