A charity which has given more than £20m to thousands of local projects will be celebrated at event in Cornwall, organisers said.

Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF), which invests in communities, said it was hosting the event at Truro Cathedral at 13:30 GMT on 12 November.

CEO of CCF Tama Haydu said he was "proud" of the support the foundation had been able to give local projects since 2003.

"We are looking forward to celebrating the people behind the incredible projects at our 20 years of giving celebration," he said.

'Thriving'

CCF said it had given more than £20m in grants to over 8,000 local projects and individuals across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly since it was established in 2003.

The foundation said projects, including children in care charity Carefree Cornwall, will attend the event.

Carefree Cornwall works with young people, aged between 11 and 25, to help manage the process of leaving care and form positive relationships, it said.

It said the charity applied for its first grant from CCF in 2006 which enabled them to lead activities where young people could join in and feel they belonged.

CCF said Carefree Cornwall has since received £360,000 from 21 different funders.

Carefree Cornwall founder Mari Eggins said: "We would not have survived without Cornwall Community Foundation when we were a tiny charity, and we would not be thriving without them now."
