A yellow weather warning has been issued for heavy rain as the Isle of Man also braces for gale force winds.
Evening and overnight sailings linking the Isle of Man with Heysham in Lancashire are at risk of being delayed or cancelled.
The severe weather warning will be in place from 17:00 GMT on Friday until 03:00 on Saturday. About 10-20mm of rain is likely to fall across the island, with up to 30mm possible in the worst affected areas.
Forecasters have predicted there will be "surface water flooding in prone places" as well as "blocked drainage".
The Ronaldsway Met Office said: "There'll also be strong to gale force east-northeast winds with gusts of 45-55mph, giving a risk of minor damage in places."
That is likely to bring "additional autumn debris onto the roads from trees", it warned.
The Isle of Man Constabulary has urged people to "take extra care if you are travelling, allow more time for journeys, and drive according to the conditions".
A spokesperson added: "Watch out for standing water, debris, and reduced visibility."
A yellow warning means "be aware" and comes below amber and red.
A yellow warning suggests bad weather may cause some travel delays and pose a risk of minor damage.
