A 17-year-old boy has been arrested following the death of a man in Goole.
On Sunday at about 19:45 BST, Humberside Police were called to reports a man had been assaulted inside a property on Hook Road.
A 42-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment for life-threatening injuries but died the next day.
Senior investigating officer, Ch Insp Jim Clough said the incident "will likely cause shock and concern amongst the local community", but officers believed it was "an incident between individuals known to each other".
Mr Clough said "a dedicated team of detectives" were calling house to house and reviewing CCTV footage in and around the area to establish the full circumstances leading up to the man’s death.
He added a scene guard remained in place at an address on Hook Road in Goole and Oakney Wood Road in Selby "to allow forensics to examine the scenes as our investigation continues".
He urged anyone with information or CCTV footage from the area to contact Humberside Police or Crimestoppers.
The teenager remains in police custody.
