A pedestrian has died following a crash involving a heavy goods vehicle.

Emergency services were called to the crash near the Malswick House Pub - on the B4215 near Newent, Gloucestershire - at about 18:00 GMT on Wednesday.

The pedestrian, a man from Gloucester in his 50s, sustained serious injuries and died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

A man in his 60s from Oxfordshire was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and remains in custody. Gloucestershire Police officers want to speak to anyone who saw the crash, has dashcam footage or saw a pedestrian walking on the B4215 before the incident.

The road was closed for several hours after the crash and has since reopened.
