A young man has been stabbed in the eye after being attacked on a street in north Belfast.

The 19-year-old was walking on Eia Street at about 19:45 GMT on Friday evening when three men wearing dark-coloured tracksuits got out of a car and approached him.

One of the men, who was armed with an unknown weapon, then stabbed the victim in the eye.

He required a number of stitches and has suffered nerve damage behind his eye, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said.

Officers have appealed for information.
