A police officer needed hospital treatment after being injured in a city centre.

West Midlands Police said the incident, in Wolverhampton on Friday, happened while the officer arrested a suspected drug dealer.

A 17-year-old, who was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply and assaulting an emergency worker, has since been released on bail with conditions.

The officer was discharged from hospital to recover at home.
