A drug dealer caught with £9,323 in criminal cash and 30 MDMA tablets has been jailed for four years and one month.

On 4 June 2023 Keane Liggins was reported for acting suspiciously in the sunken gardens in Douglas at about 13:20 BST.

A search found the purple tables, worth £450, stashed in a green plastic wrap hidden in his underwear, with the cash later found at his home.

Douglas Courthouse heard the 19-year-old was on police bail for those offences when he crashed his partner's car on the A18 Mountain Road after taking it without her permission.

One witness said he narrowly missed a head on collision with the white Nissan as Liggins pulled out into oncoming traffic to overtake the vehicle in an "idiotic" manoeuvre, the court heard.

The Nissan, which was also carrying two passengers, swerved off the road and rolled down the hill two to three times before coming to a rest, the court was told.

Liggins pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, possession of criminal property, dangerous driving, taking a vehicle without consent, driving without a license and driving without insurance.

Jailing him for four years and one month, Deemster Graeme Cook said it was "lucky" nobody had been hurt in the crash.

Liggins was also banned from driving for five years, and will have to take an extended driving test.
