Motorcyclist and pillion passenger injured in crash

A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital after a crash which also left the pillion passenger badly hurt.

Hertfordshire Police said a motorbike travelling along the A1000 Great North Road from Potters Bar was involved in a collision with a Hyundai Kona in Welham Green shortly before 19:40 GMT on Wednesday.

The motorbike rider, a man in his 40s, suffered what police described as "potentially life-threatening injuries".

The pillion passenger, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The road was closed overnight and reopened at 08:50 GMT on Thursday.

Sgt Matthew O'Neill, from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: "Our inquiries are continuing, and I am urging anyone with information to please get in touch."
