A charity event which gives runners the opportunity to race around a Surrey theme park is set to take place on Sunday.

The Run Thorpe Park 5k & 10k will begin at 08:30 BST before the Chertsey park opens to the public.

Participants will start inside Thorpe Park Resort beneath the rides and follow a 5km loop. Those running the 10km race will complete it twice.

This year's event will support the Royal Surrey Charity, which funds care at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust.

Sandy Lowry, community and events fundraising manager at Royal Surrey Charity, said: "We are absolutely thrilled that Run Thorpe Park is once again supporting Royal Surrey Charity."

Matt Wood, co-founder of organisers RunThrough, added: "It's an incredible way to combine the energy of a race with the excitement of a day at one of the UK's best theme parks, all while supporting the vital work of Royal Surrey Charity."
