Residents can help shape dementia care in Wolverhampton, as part of the city's strategy over the next four years.

The Wolverhampton Integrated Dementia Strategy 2025–2029 aims to improve the lives of people living with dementia, their families and carers "by creating more joined-up, compassionate, and effective services", the city council said.

The authority added two sessions next week were about bringing carers, families and anyone passionate about dementia support together to share thoughts.

They will take place at Priory Green on Whitburn Close in Pendeford next Wednesday from 14:00 BST, and at West Park Tea Rooms the following day from 11:30.

The council said as a city it was "committed to doing more" for those affected and the strategy would "serve as an overarching framework to guide improvements in care, support, access, and community inclusion".

It brings organisations together, including the council, the Black Country Integrated Care Board, the Black Country Healthcare NHS trust, and OneWolverhampton which is a collaboration of health, social care, voluntary and community organisations.

The strategy also involves the Wolverhampton Dementia Action Alliance, which features businesses, emergency services, religious groups and education providers.

Council cabinet member for adult services Paula Brookfield said "we really need to hear the voices of local residents to make sure the strategy reflects real experiences and priorities".

She added people's "input could make a real difference".

"Whether you're living with dementia, caring for someone who is, or working in health and social care, you can help shape services that truly meet the needs of people in our city," she said.
