Man pleads not guilty to manslaughter charge

A man has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter after the death of a construction worker nearly five years ago.

Suffolk Police was called to Haughgate Close in Woodbridge on the afternoon of 15 December 2020.

Dale Baker, 30, from Felixstowe, Suffolk, had sustained serious injuries while carrying out renovations on a house and died at the scene.

Peter Clifford, 62, formally of Holland Road, Felixstowe, pleaded not guilty at Ipswich Crown Court to gross negligence manslaughter.

The next hearing date was arranged for 30 October.

A provisional trial date was set for 17 November, which the court heard could last three weeks.
