A 17-year-old boy has been convicted of manslaughter after killing a father-of-three in West Sussex.

Paul Lawrence, 51, died after he was assaulted in Gladonian Road, Littlehampton, on 28 January last year.

At Portsmouth Crown Court on Monday, a teenage boy from Bognor Regis, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Mr Lawrence.

He has been released on bail and will be sentenced in December.

Det Ch Insp Alex Campbell said: "I'd like to thank Paul's family for their support and understanding throughout this complex investigation.

"While nothing can change what happened that fateful day, I hope this outcome brings them some sense of closure.

"Our thoughts remain with them as we await the sentencing of the defendant."

Another 17-year-old boy, from Littlehampton, who also cannot be named, was previously convicted in relation to the incident.

He pleaded guilty to sending a message that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character, and possession of cannabis.
