New route announced for Great Eastern Run

An annual half marathon due to take place in October will be more city-centre focussed, organisers have said.
Good Running Events said it was “excited” to reveal the new amended route for Peterborough’s Great Eastern Run, which will give runners the chance to see the centre.
The 13.1 mile (21km) course starts at Peterborough Cathedral, before running through more of the city centre via Bridge Street and Bourges Boulevard and finishing on Bishops Road.
The race is set to have more than 5,000 participants on 13 October.
“We wanted to amend [it] for the runners and ensure they can still get their fast times on our fast and flat route,” a spokesperson for Good Running Events said.
On its Facebook account, Peterborough Cathedral said it was “very excited”, external to be an “integral part of the Great Eastern Run".
About 20 charities have partnered with the event including Sue Ryder, Anna’s Hope and Living Sport.
The organisers said it was the highest number of partners they have ever had.
The event, which is among the UK's flattest half marathons, had run since 1982, except for 2019 when it was cancelled because of a security threat, and again in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid restrictions.
