Work on the first phase of a revamp of Broad Street in St Helier will begin on 1 September, the government has announced.

The work will transform the stretch from Lloyds Bank to the Post Office into a pedestrian-priority zone.

The upgrade includes new paving, street furniture and tree planting and follows work at New Cut and King Street where there is restricted vehicle access.

Road closures will be in effect with pedestrian access maintained and cyclists having to dismount.

Bus routes and delivery arrangements will be temporarily adjusted.

The project runs until March 2026 with further phases planned through to late 2027 with updates on the government blog., external
