Mildmay line to part-close for level crossing work

The Mitre Bridge level crossing will be revamped

There will be no trains running between a part of south London, north-west London and Watford during the October half term as "essential" engineering work is set to take place.
London Overground Mildmay line services will not run between Clapham and Willesden Junction while Southern trains will not link Clapham and Watford Junctions.
Network Rail says "engineers will work around the clock to replace rail, sleepers, drainage systems and equipment at Mitre Bridge level crossing" between 25 Saturday and Tuesday 28 October.
The line links south-west London to the east, without dipping into central London.
It was renamed after a hospital in Shoreditch which treated victims of the HIV/AIDS crisis in the 1980s.
Gary Walsh from Network Rail said: "I'd like to thank passengers, freight customers and local businesses in advance for their patience while we carry out this important work."
Tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on some local buses as well as between:
London Euston and Watford Junction (London Northwestern Railway)
Clapham Junction and London Waterloo (South Western Railway)
London Overground trains between London Euston and Watford Junction (Lioness line)
London Underground between:
- Vauxhall/Victoria – Euston (Victoria line)
- Victoria – Shepherds Bush (Circle and Central line)
- Victoria – West Brompton (District line)
- Oxford Circus – Queens Park (Bakerloo line)
- London Waterloo – Euston (Northern line)
The crossing will also be closed to motorists from 01:40 BST on 25 October to 05:15 on 29 October.
Rory O'Neill, TfL's general manager for London Overground, said: "This essential infrastructure work by Network Rail is crucial to maintaining the safety and reliability of London Overground services for the long term."
