Three attempted murder arrests after cyclist hit

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a cyclist sustained serious injuries in a crash.

Northamptonshire Police said the incident occurred at about 16:30 BST on Thursday near Rockingham Road in Corby.

The force said the driver of a black BYD car collided with the rider of an electric powered bike and a CCTV mast on the service road between Butterwick Bakery and the Mini Sam shop.

The electric bike rider, an 18-year-old man from Corby, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital, where he remained.

Two 34-year-old men from Corby and a 40-year-old woman from Corby were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 37-year-old man from Corby has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assaulting an emergency worker.

All four remained in custody, police said.
