Man and woman arrested after city stabbing

Police have arrested two people after a man suffered serious injuries in a stabbing in Leicester.

A cordon was put in place in Welford Road, near the junction with Pelham Street, at about 08:15 BST on Thursday.

A man in his 30s was found injured and taken to hospital by East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Leicestershire Police has arrested a 29-year-old man and 35-year-old woman on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent - both remain in custody.

Det Sgt Lisa Ariss, from the complex investigation team, said the attack happened at an address on a "busy route into the city" and called for witnesses to make contact.
