The family of a woman who died in hospital a week after being involved in a crash has paid tribute to a "treasured mother, grandmother, sister, aunty and friend".

Pamela Arthur, known as Pam, 76, died after suffering serious injuries in a two vehicle collision on the A390 near Chiverton Cross in Cornwall on 18 November.

Police were called to the incident at about 13:45 GMT where Ms Arthur and the driver of the other vehicle, a man in his 80s, had sustained significant injuries.

"The loss of such a vibrant, strong woman has left us all heartbroken, and we know that many in the community who knew her will feel the same," her family wrote, in a tribute released on Tuesday.

The tribute said: "She fought a valiant battle after the life-changing injuries caused by the accident, but despite her strength and the incredible care she received, we heartbreakingly lost her a week later.

"She was surrounded by her close family at the time of her passing, held with love, comfort and peace."

Her family described her as "warm, glamorous, generous, and always fiercely protective of the people she cared about".

"She had a natural elegance, often expressed through her love of jewellery and little touches of sparkle that were so uniquely her," they added.

The tribute said: "Her strong faith guided her through every chapter of her life, giving her strength, comfort and purpose.

"We will miss her more than words can say. Her generosity of spirit, her kindness, her presence and her unwavering loyalty enriched all our lives."

'A tragic accident'

Ms Arthur's family said they were sending their "love, sympathy and blessings to the other driver and his family" who remains in hospital.

"We understand that they will be feeling their own emotions, shock and heartbreak, and we hold them in our thoughts.

"This was a tragic incident, and we kindly ask for privacy and understanding as we support one another through this incredibly difficult time."

Officers from the Roads Policing Team are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone who has any dashcam footage to get in touch.
