A team of volunteers at an art gallery have been highly commended in the Team of the Year category at an awards ceremony.

Wolverhampton Art Gallery's volunteer team received the recognition at the Wolverhampton BID Excellence Awards 2025.

Judges' comments regarding the team included: "The fact that 45 volunteers are collectively contributing 292 hours of their free time says it all; they work together to ensure visitors have an excellent experience and to support each other."

Another said the commendation was "a testament to the team's passion, collaboration, and unwavering dedication to making art and culture accessible to everyone in Wolverhampton."

Councillor Chris Burden, from City of Wolverhampton Council, said: "The Wolverhampton Art Gallery volunteer team exemplifies the very best of our city - compassionate, commitment and community driven.

"Their tireless work and the incredible contribution of their volunteers has created a space where everyone feels welcome, valued, and inspired.

"Being Highly Commended is a well-deserved recognition and, on behalf of the city, I extend my heartfelt thanks for everything they do to enrich lives and bring people together through art and kindness."
