Arrest after four-vehicle fatal crash

A man has been arrested after a motorcyclist died in a four-vehicle collision in County Durham.
The incident involving two motorcycles, which are believed to have been travelling side by side, and two cars happened on the A688 at 18:30 BST on Saturday.
Durham Police said one of the motorcyclists, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene near Staindrop, while the other was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Neither of the car drivers are believed to have been injured. The force said a man was arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs.
Durham Police has appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact the force.
