Footbridge to close for final repairs
- Published
A footbridge is shutting for the final stages of repair work.
Windsor Coach Park footbridge, which connects the parking area to the town centre, needs an overhaul.
The work will see the footbridge shut and wrapped in scaffolding for about 17 weeks from 2 January because it is near a working railway platform.
The bridge is being cleaned and repainted, having new lighting fitted and a new mirror film added to the underside of its canopy.
Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead said access to all businesses would be maintained throughout.
Signs are in place showing alternative walking routes.
The bridge lifts were refurbished during the first phase of the works in October and November to avoid disrupting small businesses during the festive period.
Councillor Amy Tisi, cabinet member for children's services, education and Windsor, said: "While there's never an ideal time to complete such works, this investment is vital as the bridge hasn't been maintained for many years, and it is important it's completed before further deterioration.
"I would like to thank everyone for their ongoing patience."
The council is required to repair and maintain the bridge under a lease with Network Rail.
