A man has been charged with terrorism offences after messages of support for a proscribed group were allegedly posted on social media.

West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit began an investigation after being alerted to online posts in January, West Midlands Police said.

Moin Uddin, 58, of Smethwick, has been charged with four offences under section 12(1A) of the Terrorism Act.

He is also accused of three offences under section 19 of the Public Order Act, dating between December and January, and is due before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
