Hundreds of properties in parts of Sussex continue to have low water pressure or no supply at all due to a burst pipe.

South East Water said around 1,200 homes in Hurst Green, Etchingham, Robertsbridge and the surrounding areas are affected after a mains pipe burst on Thursday.

A bottled water station has been opened at the Route 1066 Café, in Robertsbridge.

The utility company, which is delivering bottled water to customers on its priority service register, expects full service to resume by 21:00 BST on Friday.

Matthew Dean, incident manager for the water company, said: “Last night, we were alerted to a burst main on our network.

“Our technicians pinpointed the burst and the repair was carried out overnight.

“However, there has been a subsequent secondary burst which our teams are working on now, in order to restore supplies as soon as possible.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience these unexpected supply issues have caused and we are working as quickly as possible to ensure our customers’ water supplies return to normal.”

Roughly 1,680 were initially affected by the burst.
