Proposals to demolish a former police station and use the space for housing have been withdrawn.

Under plans submitted by Norfolk Constabulary, the former police station on West Acre Road in Swaffham, could have been transformed into six new homes.

Matthew Wells, who lives next door to the property, said the height of the development was "ill-considered".

Although Breckland Council was due to consider the application, the reason for its withdrawal has not been given.

Norfolk Constabulary moved from its Swaffham station in West Acre Road to new offices on the Ecotech Business Park.

The planning application was submitted on 26 January, external but has since been withdrawn.

Swaffham Town Council objected to the development and said the design was "very poor" and failed to recognise the Old Courthouse as a residential property.
